Open Question: I made the careless mistake this morning of upgrading my iPhone 3G to firmware 2.2?

I made the careless mistake this morning of upgrading my iPhone 3G to firmware 2.2 without spending the time to search around on the net for the warnings, which unfortunately I became aware of only after the fact. I have a US purchased iPhone that I was using without any problem in SE Asia with a stealth SIM/Turbo until I upgraded to 2.2 earlier today. Now I basically have myself an oversized iTouch instead! I realize that a firmware downgrade won’t help anything at this point because of the upgraded baseband issue, but what are the chances of a forthcoming technique for rolling the baseband back to the previous version? I was also wondering if it would be possible to receive a copy of the firmware and baseband firmware being used on iPhones sold in Hong Kong? Since phones that are sold there are being sold unlocked, it would seem like if I were to install that version of the firmware then my problems of having a locked phone would be solved. I also read a post from a guy who had an unlocked iPhone he purchased in Hong Kong who also did the 2.2 iTunes upgrade, which obviously upgraded his baseband as well, and now he also can no longer use his iPhone either with the SIM card he is using it with. Probably Apple will sort him out though since he has the right to be using his iPhone with any cell phone carrier.

there are a ridicoulous amount of devices out there, but they can every be placed in a few specific categorys, multifunction cell phones seem to take every of these devices and put them in one. so do you guys think that any of these types of devices will stay dedicated, or just become a cell phone feature 1.pda's 2.good old regular cell phones (the dedicated ones) 3.pmp (portable media players) 4.mp3's (the ipod became the iphone, but what about non ipods?) 5.gps (sure your cell phones screen is tiny for a car, but in a few years theyll have fold out oled screens like paer which will make up for that) 6.calculators (for those that dont know the iphone is can be a scientific calculator, graphing calculator and !!!3 dimensional graphing calculator!!!) 7.hand held gaming device (hell game developers are abvondoning there trust of sonys psp faster then white people left OJ's, the ds lite is fun and great but cell phones look just like it, can have similar controls and can have a more powerful components) 8.speakers ( i know this sounds far fetched, ha sounds, but speakers ar getting smaller, louder, and better sound quality every day, I wouldnt be suprised is speakers of a cell phone would be used as a cell phone) 9.modems (you really dont want to read this part, i made it to long, but go ahead if you dare) (so youve bought your new $2000 dollar laptop, and your $400 hundred dollar phone, then you go on your smartphone and search the internet, the internet you decide would be a better experience on your laptop, you open it upand theres no wifi foe miles, so you go to buy a modem and find out that the modems contract fee is higher then your cell phones, then you realize that you can connect your laptop to your cell phone and miss the modem fee altogether, sounds like a rock solid idea to me, that's why id never buy an iphone, you cant use it as a mosem, my $50 dollar samsung phone can at 3g speed, and your $500 hundred dollar iphone can't just plain unhappy) 10.netbooks ( i know this sounds silly, but the only reason cell phones dont have fully featured internet browsers is their lack of power, in 2010 there will be 2Ghz processors in cell phones and 2gigs of ram, current netbooks would be slaughtered on there first birthday if we had cell phones two years from know, now. yeah so what netbooks will also be more powerful, but the only reason I think the cell phone browsing experience hasnt gotten really big is the limiting experience for the power) 11. projectors (oh yeh, if you dont think this is a possibility just research the exponential decline in the literal mass of projectors, at this current rate an HD projector will be the size of an ipod classic by 2013, and by 2017 the will be the size of the built in 2mp camera on your current phone 12. potable difficult drives, thumb drives, storage devices in general, the mass to storage ratio of SSD's to regular difficult drives are going to be caught up to difficult drives by 2012 (for example, largest storage capacity of a 2.5 inch difficult steer by 2012, 2TB, largest storage for SSD 2.5 by 2012 2048GB), by 2015 512GB's of SSD's will fit on a 1.8 inch steer or even more storage 13. ok. so lol i bought a iphone off my pal for really cheap. the screen is cracked in multiple spots. but it still works. the day i got it it worked fine. so i was charging it and i came back and turned it on and the bottom half wouldnt respond.(right now its at the point were i have to put in my sim) but when i reset it i can slide the red bar at the top. answers beside take it back to apple cuz i dont have a warrenty. i was just gunna use it as a ipod cuz i already have a blackjack. Open Question: iPhone 3G 2.2 unlock/jailbreak updating firmware question?

so the 2,2 firmware is out tomorrow and ive decided that once i update my jesusphone3g to 2.2, im going to hack the hell out of it cause im sick of waiting...my question is that once i jailbreak/unlock it with the 2.2 firmware installed, how will i be able to update it from then on with Apples updates? i know they are going to add alot more features in the future, not to mention make the battery life better through updates which the iPhone REALLY needs so i just wanna know if updating regularly will effect the status of the jailbreak/unlock. can i not update at every after unlocking/jailbreaking? or is there some sort of special way to update? also i have an ipod touch 16gb on 1.1.4 firmware and thats been jailbroken since may but i havent updated it in fear of losing every my crazy apps and it being reset to apples boring (un-jailbroken) ipod touch. some help would be great, thanks. oh and my iphone specs are: iPhone 3G, 16GB White, its on 2.1 firmware (un-jailbroken/locked), needed to be restored once because it crashed catastrophically, i bought it in early august. also if anyone has a way to soft unlock/jailbreak, please let me know, zibri and dev team havent found a way yet unfortunatly :(

Open Question: How loud is the music when being played through the speakers is the iPhone?

I went to the Apple store today and was messing around with the iPhones cos i'm getting one for christmas. I noticed that when being played through the speakers, not through the ear phones, that the music was really silent. I suppose it might have that it was noisy in the store but i doubt it. I had it on the maximum volume and i could just about hear the music. So is the music noisy when being played through the speakers? I was just thinking that the volume might be like that in the shops for some reason. Anyway, does anyone possess an iPhone (3G by the way if that makes any difference) and is the music noisy?? At the moment i have an old Sony Erricson and even that plays louder.

I have an original iPhone, and and purchasing a 3G of eBay. It is a 16GB 3G iPhone which has been legally unlocked. I was wondering how it works because when you connect the iPhone to the PC it only shows plans for the providers that actually sell the iPhone. So how does it work? I'm just trying to receive started... in every iphone tutorial, the first thing they do is click File --> New Project, and pick "Cocoa Touch Application" with iPhone->Application selected in the pane on the left. I don't have "Coca Touch Application" as an option.. what gives? I am offered the following six choices: Naviation-based application / OpenGL ES application / Tab Bar application / Utility Application / Window-based application. I have just downloaded and installed the iPhone SDK from the Apple Developer website and installed on my Macbook running OSX 10.5.5 Any thoughts?

I got it on the iphone 3gs release date, and ever since my text messages will take forever for other people to recieve them (or for me to receive them) and its really messing up a lot of my conversations. sometimes they arrive/go instantly, and other times it can take them up to like 5 hours to send. sometimes they dont arrive in/go out at every! i receive the little "text message sent" thing and the bar goes every the way, its just that my friends are saying that they arnt getting some of my messages, and sometimes i dont receive theirs. i am on att (duh) and i had my number ported from vzw (verizon). also, i seem to have the most trouble getting and sending messages to and from verizon people... any help woul be STRONGLY appreciatedm, and please dont just tell me to call att or apple, because i will eventually, i just want to try this first to try to avoid customer service :D thanks!

Open Question: How do I use iTunes to get ringtones for my iPhone?

I am using a site called myxer.com. You pick the ringtone, and the first step is to click "keep" and keep it to a folder on your difficult steer, then #2 is "Once the file is downloaded, open iTunes and drag your new ringtone from its folder into the ringtones area in iTunes." Step 3 is "Sync your iPhone and set your ringtone. like!" I don't use iTunes (yes, I have the newest version) that much. I don't know where everything is and how to maneuver around. I was in a ringtones area (don't know how I got there), but didn't know what to do. Furthermore, I THINK those instructions mean access iTunes from my computer and connect my phone, but just wanted to make sure it didn't mean go to iTunes on my phone. I'm utterly helpless at this. I've had my iPhone for two months and can't even download apps. Yes, I have an Apple ID and password for iTunes, but when I go to install an app, first it'll say ID or password is invalid, then I'll re-enter it and it'll say "authentication failed." I normally have no problems with any type of technology and figure things out for myself, but this, this has beaten me. Please help! Okay, so I've FINALLY figured out how to do the apps...apparently, I had my account set up, but didn't have my credit card info entered, even though I was trying to receive free apps.

Open Question: Replacement iPhone????

Ok well my iPhone 1st gen 8gb's bottom part is cracking off a little bit. Since my warranty ended in September, How much will Apple charge me for replacing it?I don't use it as a phone anymore because I have the 3G. But I use it as my iPod. I know I already hvae the 3G but I want to always have my original with me.

Open Question: Ipod/ phone problem- broken?

Hi. I just recently (about two weeks ago) bought an ipod touch. I needed a new ipod because my nano died (it was the first generation nano and lived a good life. I also needed more space for music. anyway I'm loving it very much and can't receive enough of it. I have a razer (the phone) and today for who knows what reason the front screen (you know the one covering the clock) decided to break. I texted a pal then put it in my pocket. when I pulled it out again later it was broken. I don't know how or why it happened. AT&T is being paid by me for insurance. My first phone got stolen and so I grabbed insurance just in case spending 100 bucks again for my phone was a pain. But my last phone (also a razer) got run over by my pal at a party where we were go-karting. He took my phone and was screwing around with it and placed it in his pocket when it was his turn to go up there. Basically the phone flew out while they were racing around the track and it got run over about 100 times before anyone noticed. So my insurance gave me a new razer. I was glad that I had paid for insurance. Now I call up AT&T about this and they tell me that I can receive a new one but I'll have to pay a $100 charge to keep the insurance >.> So for the time being I will keep the phone I have. It works but I don't know for how long. And because of my ipod touch I really really want an iphone now. so my question is do you think I could go to the apple store that I bought the touch from and exchange it for an iphone (i'll pay the extra hundred to have the same amount of space).

and when do they release the catalogs wit every the things for sale, like from best buy, aside from ipod,iphone, and anythin from apple, wut should i receive, money is not an issue, i saved up (a lot).
